Viridian Publishing is a small independent publisher of fiction and non-fiction, specialising in affordable books by experts in their respective fields of analytical science.

Fiction Books

Our crime fiction series reflects Viridian Publishing's focus on analytical science and the author draws on her experiences in forensics and archaeology while working as a university professor at Imperial College London. Her protagonist, Dr Millie Sanderson, is based at the University of North Yorkshire but working in a forensic laboratory in Harrogate. The books follow her work as a forensic archaeologist, investigating historical sites such as lead mines, lime kilns, chariot burials and bog bodies as she assists the police in contemporary forensic investigations involving poisonings, abductions, and even sheep rustling.

Scientific Handbooks

Viridian Publishing brings together books published by authors that have years of experience in training and practical application of analytical science. Their books are acknowledged as key texts and have sold world-wide. Written for both undergraduates and postgraduates in universities, research institutes, government, or industry, these handbooks are designed for chemists, geologists, biologists, physicists, environmentalists, and archaeologists; in fact anyone who wishes to find out about the techniques and how they are applied in her or his field. There is a real need for these handbooks, covering not only the theory, fundamentals, operation and applications of the techniques but also include practical information allowing the reader to make best use of the instrumentation available.

About Viridian Publishing

Viridian Publishing was established in 2003 with the specific purpose of publishing analytical handbooks for students. Professors Kym Jarvis and Susan Parry were able to take their scientific monographs, originally published in hardback by large publishing houses, and produce them in an affordable paperback form. Soon they were doing the same for other experts in their respective fields of analytical chemistry. Since then the number of handbooks has increased and now a crime fiction series has been added with a related theme in forensics and archaeology.
