So, what has happened since I received the proof copy of ‘Tracks in Dark’ in January? The
paperbacks finally arrived in February, looking as good as I knew they would, if not better. With
the publication date set for the end of March, plans were already under way for the launch
events with local independent bookshops. I was busy discussing with printmaker Hester Cox
how we might do a joint presentation on our collaboration over the cover design.
Our first talk was with ‘The Wonky Tree Bookshop’ in Leyburn, followed by one organised by
‘Limestone Books’ in Settle and then the cream tea talk at ‘The Stripey Badger Bookshop’ in
Grassington. Hester and I thoroughly enjoyed the events, combining our individual experiences
of writing and printmaking – and how they came together.
I have also been talking about my experiences to groups such as WIs, Probus and Ladies
luncheon clubs. It is always great fun meeting these enthusiastic groups in their venues ranging
from village halls to churches and posh hotels.
Look out for the book trail in Hawes during the summer holidays – my books are being featured
in the window of the ‘Funky Pheasant’ and there will be plenty more shops featuring books in the
town. It’s quite fortuitous that the plot of ‘Tracks in the Dark’ is based in Hawes.
Finally, I am working on my second book in the new series and will report back on progress
during the year – thanks for asking!
