It is no coincidence that I do most of my writing in the winter months, when it’s cold outside and the evenings are dark. This year has been no exception, and I’m pleased to have nearly finished the second book in my DI Miriam Abbott series. I love cryptic crosswords, jigsaw puzzles, Wordle and sudoku (although not so good at the last one!). I guess most fans of crime novels like to think they might solve the murder before the official investigators do, so I suppose it’s my challenge to stop them from doing so too early! Incidentally, the maze depicted is at Bolton castle in Wensleydale. It took me several attempts to reach the centre and I was reminded of that scene in ‘Three Men in a Boat’ when they attempted the maze at Hampton Court.
